Using Skinceuticals Sunscreen To Protect Your Skin

We’re all aware of the importance of wearing sunscreen during the summer months, even when the weather is cloudy. But a lot of high street stores sell high factor sunscreens which are difficult to rub in and can leave a slight white tinge on the skin which is not ideal. Some only protect the skin from UVA rays and not UVB and not all types are water resistant. Many sunscreens are fairly greasy and therefore don’t provide an effective base for applying make-up, but Skinceuticals have come up with a selection of sunscreens which are set to overcome these issues.

Skinceuticals Mineral Radiance UV Defense SPF 50

The Skinceuticals sunscreens contain a UV defense with an SPF of either 30 or 50, therefore offering high protection from the hot sun. 95% of the UV rays from the sun are classed as UVA. These can’t be blocked by windows or even clouds, and cause free radicals to commence a chain of damaging oxidation processes. These processes cause the skin to darken and develop brown spots and can also damage the natural collagen in the skin, which can lead to the skin becoming less elastic. The remaining 5% of the UV rays are called UVB rays, and these are the ones which can cause the skin to burn.

When choosing a sunscreen, it’s important to choose one which contains protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Each of the Skinceuticals sunscreens can do just this, which means wearers can feel protected against both sunburn and premature aging when wearing the sunscreen regularly. The fluid from the sunscreens can also be absorbed into the skin easily and can act as a base for make-up. Some of the products have a slight tint which can help to even out the skin tone, and can help to avoid the dreaded ‘ghost’ effect of a traditional sunscreen.

The Skinceuticals sunscreens are either free from or have low levels of chemical filters, and some are paraben free too, which is unlike many of the high street sunscreens. They do need to be reapplied regularly throughout the day, especially after swimming.
