Why Should You Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise?

We have all heard skincare specialists encouraging us to cleanse, tone and moisturise every day, but how many of us understand as to why we should do this? Most beauty experts will tell you to perform this skincare routine once or twice a day, and the main reason is to ensure that your skin is left clean, fresh and moisturised so as to reduce the risk of spots and other blemishes.

First of all, it’s vital to choose a cleanser which matches your skin type. The Skinceutials Foaming Cleanser is fantastic as it is really simple to use and is effective on all skin types. It is lightweight so will not make oily skin feel greasy yet is also suitable for sensitive skin as the non-allergenic ingredients will not irritate delicate skin. The Skinceuticals foaming cleanser can be used in the morning to waken the skin and prepare the face for the remainder of the skincare routine, plus it can be used in the evening as a make-up remover.

Next step is to use a toner to refresh the skin and remove any traces of cleanser. Toner has been designed to close pores and can also help to soften and protect the skin. Ideally the toner should be applied on a cotton wool pad using gentle upwards movements so that the skin is not tugged downwards.

Finally, a good moisturiser is called for. The moisturiser should be chosen according to the skin type – oily skin will need a lighter cream, whereas drier skin may need something a little heavier. There are also specially designed skins for combination skin, which will moisturise the cheeks and other dry areas whilst ensuring the traditionally oily T-zone is subtly moisturised without being left shiny.

Skinceuticals offer a wide range of cleansing, toning and moisturising products which are available for all skin types. They also offer other products which can be used in addition to the traditional cleansing, toning and moisturising routine, for example Hydrating B5 Gels and C E Ferulic which can protect the skin against photoaging.
